We Will Unmask the K!llers” — Governor Nwifuru Vows Justice for 13 Ebonyi Indigenes Murd£red in Anambra

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has strongly condemned the killing of 13 Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, describing the incident as a senseless and barbaric act that undermines peace and the sanctity of human life. The victims, who were reportedly holding a peaceful meeting, were shot at close range in what the governor called an unprovoked and unacceptable attack.

In a statement issued late Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru expressed deep shock over the tragedy and vowed that the perpetrators would not go unpunished. He emphasized that no form of violence against law-abiding citizens will be tolerated, calling the killings a direct assault on unity and coexistence.

The governor confirmed that he had reached out to Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, urging a swift and transparent investigation into the incident. He expressed confidence that the Anambra State Government and relevant security agencies would act quickly to apprehend those responsible, warning that failure to do so could strain relations between the two states.

Governor Nwifuru also appealed for calm among Ebonyi residents, especially the families and communities directly affected by the tragedy. He urged them to resist any urge for reprisal, assuring that state resources would be deployed to uncover those behind the attack and ensure justice is served.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the protection of Ebonyi citizens both within and outside the state, promising that no individual involved in the killings would be shielded from justice
