Vigilantes k!ll ‘notorious bandit leader’ in Katsina

Sani Burki, a bandit kingpin, has been killed in Katsina state.

Burki, said to be responsible for terrorising the Safana and Batsari LGAs of Katsina, was killed by security forces in a joint operation by local vigilantes and the Katsina Community Watch Corps (CWC).

The incident occurred on Friday when Burki and his group attempted to attack civilians in Safana.

Responding to the threat, the vigilantes groups mounted a coordinated defense and engaged the bandits in a gun duel.

Several members of Burki’s gang were reportedly killed during the incident.

On September 12, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) killed Kachallah Buzu, a notorious bandit kingpin and several of his fighters in Mayanchi village of Zamfara state.

The troops reportedly recovered 30 motorcycles and a cache of weapons from the bandits.
