Upper Benue River Basin Chairman hails Tinubu on Alau Dam reconstruction, appeals for release of appointment letters
Chairman Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, covering Bauchi,Taraba,Gombe and Adamawa states, Alhaji Sanusi Babban Takko, has commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration on the award of N 80 billion contract for the re-construction of Alau Dam,which was ravaged due to the overflow of Cameroun River,causing serious humaniterian crisis and loss of lives and properties in Maiduguri axis and it’s environs.
Alhaji Babban Takko who holds the traditional title of Barayan Bauchi in a statement said “This show of love and compassion by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the award of this laudable project is highly commendable and revolutionary,aimed at cushing the effects of damages done to the people of the entire North-East region.
“Your Exellency sir, history and posterity will record you in positive light for rising to the occassion when it matter most in giving succor to those in need,” he said.
The Upper Benue River Basin Authority Chairman added that “Your Exellency sir, with this great love you have shown to us in this region by the award of this gigantic contract,we shall inturn reciprocate this gesture by making sure the accrue benefit of the Alau Dam shall be used for the common good of our people, especially in the area of Agriculture and other areas that will bring prosperity in the region”
He pointed out that “we are also happy with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration on it’s intention to expand the scope of activities of the 12 River Basins in Nigeria ,aimed at bringing improvement to the grassroots across the country.”
He disclosed that “one other area we shall be giving considration at the Upper Benue River Basin is on the issue of Youth and Women Empowerment through Agriculture and Skill acquisition. This has become imperative due to the challenge of insecurity and other humaniterian crisis faced by our people in this zone,hence,our intervention to show we care for them and their development.”
Alhaji Babban Takko used the opportunity to appeal
to the Secretary to the Federal Goverment of Nigeria, Senator George Akume “to facilitate the release of our appointment letters without delay,so as to enable us to go into the field to start implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda and vision of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in all the River Basins Authority across Nigeria, especially with the raining season fast approaching to enable farmers get the necessary support aimed at bumper harvest.”
