UBRBDA Governing Board Chairman, Barayan Bauchi Hails President Tinubu on N1.2 Trillion Injected into Nigerian Bank of Agriculture
The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA), covering Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and Taraba States, Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad Baban Takko (Barayan Bauchi), has hailed and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (The Jagaban of Nigeria) for his tenacity and commitment to the resuscitation of the Agricultural Bank.
Speaking on the development, Barayan Bauchi described the approval of N1.2 Trillion for the revival of mechanised farming, irrigation farming, and other agricultural initiatives as a landmark decision that will reposition agriculture as the mainstay of Nigeria’s economic growth, especially in Northern Nigeria, as it was before and after the post-colonial era.
“In my capacity as the Chairman of the Governing Board of Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, I sincerely send goodwill and solidarity to our able and inimitable President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for this laudable and unprecedented feat. Approving this colossal amount of funds into the Nigeria Bank of Agriculture for loans to be accessed by genuine farmers will promote the growth of the Agriculture sub-sector, ensure bumper harvests, sustenance, exportation of goods and services, and prosperity for our people, as well as wealth creation for the greatest good of all Nigerians,” he stated.
Barayan Bauchi, however, appealed to the Management of the Agricultural Bank of Nigeria to ensure that the conditions for accessing the loans are not made stringent, stressing that this is the only way the vision and desire of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his team to make Nigeria one of the largest food-producing countries in Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and the world at large can be realised.
He further noted that other developing nations such as India and Sri Lanka had implemented similar initiatives to great success, with their citizens reaping the dividends of democracy through food sufficiency and agricultural prosperity.
“Using this medium, I call on our traditional institutions and other critical stakeholders to enlighten our people at the grassroots across the country on this new formal initiative. The availability of these funds, N1.2 Trillion, rooted into the Agricultural Bank of Nigeria as a revolving loan, aims to give a lifeline to the moribund agricultural sector,” Barayan Bauchi added.
The UBRBDA Board Chairman further assured that under his leadership, the Authority will liaise with the Management of the Agricultural Bank of Nigeria to ensure that farmers, youths, and irrigation farmers within the four states under UBRBDA’s mandate benefit maximally from this superlative and revolutionary initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He stressed that this is particularly crucial considering the humanitarian crisis the zone has endured due to years of insurgencies and other challenges.
Barayan Bauchi also urged the Agricultural Bank of Nigeria to set up liaison offices in all the 774 local government areas in Nigeria, including the FCT Area Councils, to open windows of opportunities for genuine farmers at the grassroots, in line with the President’s core vision to work for the greatest good of all Nigerians at every level.
While expressing his profound appreciation, Barayan Bauchi lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering commitment in fixing critical sectors of the economy through monumental reforms since assuming office nearly two years ago.
“Your Excellency, sir, history and posterity will record you in positive light for initiating core reforms aimed at tackling the nation’s intractable food security and other critical areas. I urge you not to despair in your quest for true nation-building, as well as working towards a just egalitarian society for all and sundry in our dear country. In your words, after darkness comes a glorious dawn,” he declared.
