Tunji-Ojo Makes Surprise Visits to NSCDC, Federal Fire Service Commands
Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday embarked on an unscheduled inspection tour of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command and the Federal Fire Service (FFS) Station in Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security and enhance emergency response capabilities across the country.
Speaking during the visit, the minister said the objective was to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of facilities and evaluate the readiness of personnel to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies.
Tunji-Ojo referenced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nationwide address on Monday, stressing that the President’s call for collective responsibility in safeguarding the nation must be taken seriously by all paramilitary formations under the ministry.
“Security is life, and Mr President is trusting our officers to deliver on the issue of internal security and the protection of critical national assets,” he said.
The minister expressed confidence in the competence and dedication of officers within the ministry, reiterating the administration’s commitment to building a safer and more secure country for all citizens.
He further assured that routine surprise inspections would be sustained across paramilitary commands nationwide, enabling him to gain firsthand insight into operations, challenges, and service delivery.
“More importantly, I will continue to conduct unscheduled on-the-spot assessments of paramilitary commands across the country because I want to see things the way they are,” Tunji-Ojo noted, emphasizing that Nigerians deserve nothing short of excellence.
“For me, I want to see the kind of service that Nigerians are getting across all our agencies, because like I always say, a good service is not good enough for Nigerians — only the best is acceptable.”
