Today, we wrapped up a two-day review meeting to validate and adopt the draft Benue State Internally Displaced Persons Policy Document, a major step toward protecting and supporting internally displaced children, adults, and communities.
With support from Save the Children, Nigeria and Global Partnership for Education the Benue State Government is working to domesticate the National Internally Displaced Persons policy, creating a framework to address the protection, assistance, and long-term needs of children and adults displaced by conflict, violence, or disasters. The policy prioritizes safeguarding the rights and dignity of Internally Displaced Persons, delivering both immediate and sustained support, and enabling safe return, resettlement, and integration.
👥 Stakeholders from across Benue State Government ministries, agencies, parastatals, Community Based Organisations (CBOs), representatives of the Association of Persons with Disability, and Internally Displaced Persons came together to review and validate the draft policy.
We look forward to the outcomes of the next steps of presenting the policy to the Benue State government executives, their approval, followed by its official launch and implementation.
📌 A promising stride toward lasting solutions for displaced children, adults, and communities in Benue State!
