Tinubu to attend Arab-Islamic summit in Saudi Arabia

President Bola Tinubu, alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Ministers and heads of agencies will, on Sunday, depart Abuja for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, scheduled to commence on Monday, November 11, 2024.

The Summit is being held at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and follows last year’s summit in the same Saudi city.

It will focus on the current situation in the Middle East.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement he signed on Saturday titled ‘President Tinubu set to attend Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.’

According to Onanuga, the President will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.

“During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasising Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.

“Nigeria will also advocate for renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace in the region,” the statement added.

After the conclusion of the summit, President Tinubu will return to Abuja.

Sunday’s trip is Tinubu’s third to the Kingdom and his 30th foreign trip since assuming office 17 months ago.

So far, he has logged 124 days abroad, visiting 16 countries and accumulated over 127 flight hours.

He has visited Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; London, the United Kingdom (four times); Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); Nairobi, Kenya; Porto Norvo, Benin Republic; The Hague, Netherlands; Pretoria, South Africa; Accra, Ghana; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; New York, the United States of America; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (twice); Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Dakar, Senegal and Doha, Qatar
