Tinubu approves appointments of key principal officers for FUTA Teaching Hospital
The Federal Government has approved a new set of principal officers for the FUTA Teaching Hospital, Akure, in a move aimed at boosting the institution’s administrative and service delivery capacity as it continues its evolution into a fully fledged tertiary healthcare centre for Ondo State and the nation.
The appointments complete the hospital’s top management team and follow the earlier selection of Dr. Olaseinde Bello as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) in September.
Mrs. Helen Nike Ajayi has been appointed Director of Administration. Prior to this role, she served as Deputy Director of Administration at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo. A seasoned health administrator, Mrs. Ajayi holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and a Master of Science in Managerial Psychology.
Dr. Olaniyi Ogunleye was named Director of Finance. He previously held the position of Assistant Director of Internal Audit at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife. His academic qualifications include Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Accounting, as well as a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
Other key positions confirmed include Mr. Alatanye Taiye Solomon as Head of Internal Audit and Mr. Folorunsho Abidakun as Chief Procurement Officer. Mr. Solomon, a Chartered Accountant, comes with advanced academic training and professional affiliations underscoring his competence in financial oversight. Mr. Abidakun brings extensive procurement expertise, backed by certifications from the National Bureau of Public Procurement and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria.
With this team now fully constituted, the FUTA Teaching Hospital management says it is set to implement strategic reforms, strengthen internal processes, and upgrade service delivery across departments.
Chief Medical Director, Professor Olusegun Ojo, described the appointments as pivotal to the hospital’s growth trajectory. “These appointments signal the beginning of a transformative era that will reposition the hospital to fulfill its mandate of providing high-quality tertiary healthcare to the people,” he said.
The leadership restructuring is expected to accelerate the hospital’s readiness to operate at full capacity and contribute more significantly to healthcare development in the region
