The National President of the Federated Agriculture and Rural Farmers of Nigeria (FARFON), Mr. Abdul Yusuf, and the National Treasurer, Amb. Onah Moses King, made a courtesy visit to the Bauchi State Agricultural Development Program (BSADP) on Monday, November 6, 2024.

They were accompanied by Bauchi State officials, led by State Chairman Mr. Umar Gital.
The visit aimed to introduce FARFON’s initiatives to empower Bauchi farmers and enhance agricultural production. These programs focus on providing essential inputs and improved seedlings to boost yields, especially for dry-season farming.
In an interactive session, Mr. Abdul Yusuf highlighted Bauchi as the first state selected for this program, noting its strategic location in the Northeast, its relative peace amidst regional insecurity, and FARFON’s past successful collaborations in the area. He emphasized that Bauchi’s stable environment provides confidence in the success of the initiative. Engaging with BSADP, he explained, is essential due to BSADP’s crucial role in agricultural policy and program implementation in the state.
FARFON’s National Consultant, Mr. Umar Sarkin Yara, introduced the delegation, emphasizing BSADP’s longstanding credibility and trusted relationships with Bauchi farmers. He pledged unwavering commitment to the success of FARFON’s initiative, assuring stakeholders that the program involves leading seed manufacturers and input suppliers to ensure successful outcomes.
During the session, BSADP’s Director of Technical Services, Mr. Rafilawos Iliya, encouraged FARFON to ensure its interventions directly benefit smallholder farmers, rather than primarily serving larger, established farmers. He stressed the importance of targeted support for emerging farmers to foster broader agricultural growth.
Adding to the discussion, the Director of Rural Institutional Development expressed BSADP’s readiness to collaborate with organizations like FARFON to promote food security in Bauchi and across Nigeria. He praised FARFON’s initiative for its focus on dry-season rice and maize production in Bauchi.
In his closing remarks, BSADP Program Manager Alh. Ya’u Mohammed, who received both a membership certificate and a certificate as the association’s grand patron, advised Bauchi farmers to remain cautious of fraudulent schemes. He encouraged FARFON’s leadership to submit their project documentation for a thorough review and verification to confirm its credibility before promoting the program to local farmers.
In response Ambassador Moses kings assured BSADP and Bàuchi farmers on their credibility and promised that the collaborate will be one of the best that has ever been entered into with other organisation in recent years. Which will lead to a win win situation for both farmers, FARFON multipurpose cooperative society and BSADP and small holder farmers in general.
