In a rare display of leadership that transcends political and geographical boundaries, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has extended her benevolent reach to communities in Ondo North Senatorial District, delivering 200 solar streetlights to the Seriki of Ebira in Owo for installation across the Oke Ogun axis of the ancient community, and 500 solar streetlights to Akunnu-Akoko, in Akoko North-East Local Government Area.
Despite not being from Ondo State, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s intervention demonstrates her deep compassion for humanity and unwavering commitment to grassroots development across Nigeria. The initiative has brought relief and joy to residents, improving security, mobility, and night-time economic activities in the benefiting communities.
Community leaders and residents of Owo and Akunnu-Akoko have expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the gesture as a shining example of leadership that knows no boundaries.
However, some residents also expressed concern that Ondo North Senatorial District has not witnessed similar interventions from their own representative, Senator Jide Ipinshagba, despite the growing infrastructural needs across the area. They appealed for more visible and impactful development efforts from their elected senator, particularly in road rehabilitation, electricity, and youth empowerment.
The donation of the solar streetlights by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan aligns with her broader vision for renewable energy, rural electrification, and inclusive national development. Her selfless service continues to earn her nationwide recognition as a model of unity and compassion-driven governance.
