PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
ILLEGAL USE OF AKOKO NORTHWEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT NUMBER PLATES: A CALL TO ORDER
The Akoko Northwest Local Government of Ondo State, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Esan John Owolabi, hereby issues a formal warning to individuals or organizations unlawfully in possession of or utilizing the official Local Government number plates without proper authorization.
Recent investigations have revealed that certain individuals, including motor dealers, are illegally printing and using the Akoko Northwest number plates for personal or commercial purposes. Disturbingly, these plates are allegedly being used to perpetrate criminal activities, including misrepresentation and deception. Such acts constitute serious offenses and will no longer be tolerated.
The Local Government views this as a grave matter and is taking immediate steps to curtail this illegality. All persons currently using any Akoko Northwest number plate acquired through unauthorized means are hereby advised to return such property without delay. Failure to comply will result in strict legal action, as the full weight of the law will be brought to bear.
Furthermore, any legitimate use of government-issued number plates must be duly registered, sealed, and documented in accordance with the laws governing public property. The public is urged to verify the authenticity of their documentation immediately. The principle of “possession is nine-tenths of the law” does not apply to illegal acquisition.
We urge all stakeholders and concerned citizens to support the government by reporting suspicious activity or providing relevant information to aid in the eradication of this criminal practice. An injury to one is indeed an injury to all.
The Hon. Esan Owolabi-led administration remains committed to fighting all forms of criminality, impersonation, and insecurity. We assure the public that no offender will go unpunished—wherever they may be, the law will find them.
