Former President Goodluck Jonathan has asked Denis Otuaro, administrator of the presidential amnesty programme (PAP), to prioritise education scholarship and women empowerment in the Niger Delta region.

Jonathan spoke on Friday when he hosted Otuaro, who was on a consultative visit in his Abuja residence.

The former president urged the PAP administrator to ensure that the programme exposes more people in the region to the impact of the federal government efforts.

He also suggested the importance of women’s empowerment in deepening regional peace.

Otuaro expressed gratitude for the opportunity to consult with the former president.

He acknowledged Jonathan’s invaluable contributions to peace and development across the nation.

Otuaro reaffirmed the commitment of the PAP under his leadership to adhere to the mandate of promoting peace and development in the Niger Delta.

He assured Jonathan that the programme would prioritise education, women empowerment, and peace-building initiatives.

Otuaro also pledged to engage elders in the region regularly to ensure that the programme aligns with the aspirations of the people.
