*A CLARION CALL FOR ACCOUNTABILITY ON THE 13% DERIVATION AND STATE ALLOCATIONS TO DELTA STATE – EXONERATING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND DEMANDING STATE-LEVEL TRANSPARENCY*
Your Excellency,
The New Delta Grassroots Movement is compelled to write this open letter following the release of a revealing financial report by the Delta State Allocations Research Centre (DSARC). This report sheds light on the state’s revenue over the past decade and highlights the alarming mismanagement of public funds. While the report was independently published by DSARC, this letter represents the position and resolve of our movement alone.
We write as concerned citizens of Delta State and passionate believers in the Renewed Hope Agenda. This is both a call to action and a sincere effort to correct the false narratives that seek to blame your administration for the underdevelopment of oil-producing states such as ours.
Between 2015 and 2024, Delta State received an astounding N2.744 trillion from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC). Yet, the total value of visible infrastructure and development across the 25 local government areas is estimated to be less than N200 billion — an abysmal return on federal generosity.
Breakdown of FAAC Allocations to Delta State (2015–2024):
2015: N159.8 billion
2016: N148.2 billion
2017: N186.6 billion
2018: N213 billion
2019: N214.4 billion
2020: N186.83 billion
2021: N240 billion
2022: N348 billion
2023: N483.57 billion
2024 (Projected): N564.29 billion

This financial trajectory tells its own story. While your administration has shown steadfast commitment to economic reforms, infrastructure, and agricultural renewal, the mismanagement at the state level has kept our people in hardship.
Focus on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s Administration (2023–2025):
In just two years, Delta State under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has received nearly N1.05 trillion. However, there is little to show for it. Roads are deteriorating, schools and hospitals are under-equipped, potable water remains scarce, and youth empowerment programs are nonexistent. Alarmingly, some of these same leaders are now attempting to defect to your great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), not in support of your vision, but seemingly as a means to shield themselves from accountability.
The New Delta Grassroots Movement is therefore launching a sustained public enlightenment campaign. Our aim is not to incite unrest, but to awaken civic consciousness and demand accountability for the management of the 13% derivation fund and FAAC allocations.

March 15, 2026 – Gani Fawehinmi Park, Lagos
April 15, 2026 – Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos
May 15, 2026 – TBS Monumental Park, Lagos
June 15, 2026 – Federal Secretariat, Abuja
July 15, 2026 – King Square, Ring Road, Benin City
August 15, 2026 – Unity Fountain, Abuja
These peaceful demonstrations will spotlight the real sources of underdevelopment in Delta State and redirect public scrutiny where it truly belongs.
Our Appeal:
We urge Your Excellency to consider a federal audit into the 13% derivation funds and FAAC allocations to Delta State from 2015 to 2025. The people deserve full transparency. Those responsible must be held to account.
We reaffirm our support for your leadership and commend your administration’s efforts to reposition Nigeria for greatness. The people of Delta State understand the truth — our suffering is not from Aso Rock, but from Asaba.
