The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said that 137 distressed Nigerians were on Tuesday repatriated to Nigeria from Mali.

In a short statement on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, NEMA said that the 137 Nigerians were repatriated to the country by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

According to the statement, the returnees arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos aboard Sky Mali Air with flight no: UR-CQX.

The aircraft landed at about 1400 hours on Tuesday.

NEMA said the returnees comprised 28 adult females, 78 adult males, 12 female children, 18 male children and 1 female infant, making a total of 137 returnees brought in the IOM Voluntary Repatriation programme for stranded Nigerians.

Upon their return, they were received by the officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service, police, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and NEMA.
