Nigerian Police Arrest Suspected Cultist, Drug Peddler, Recover Firearms In Anambra
Ikenga stated that Ubadigbo was part of the Command’s sustained fight against cultism, drug peddling and unlawful possession of firearms in the state.
The Anambra State Police Command said it has arrested one suspected cultist and drug peddler and recovered two firearms.
The Command’s spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, said the suspect identified as a 35-year-old Ebuka Ubadigbo was arrested on August 28 at Nkpor-Umuoji Road, close to a building site in Idemili North LGA, by police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS) Enugwu Ukwu.
Ikenga stated that Ubadigbo was part of the Command’s sustained fight against cultism, drug peddling and unlawful possession of firearms in the state.
According to the statement, the Operatives also recovered “two pump-action guns with two live cartridges and large quantities of substances suspected to be hard drugs.”
During preliminary interrogation, Ikenga said the suspect confessed to involvement in drug peddling, adding that further investigations are ongoing to “identify his accomplices and trace the source of the recovered firearms.”
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” said the Police spokesman.
