Tinubu visited the state on Tuesday to commiserate with the governor Mohammed Bago, his wife, Fatima Bago, and families of the victims, as well as make the donation.
She said the recent tanker explosion informed her visit.
The first lady noted that the governor had done alot to rehabilitate the distressed families, noting that 70 families through the governor wife, will have one million naira to help them resettle as well as meet other expenses like food items.
“We are aware that the governor has done so much to rehabilitate the families of the victims, so we are looking at victims and their family members that are either under 70 years of age and who will go through the governor’s wife.
“Each family will get N1 million to help them settle and for other extra expenses like food items. We pray such disaster won’t happen again.”
Meanwhile, the First Lady seized the occasion to rain accolades on Governor Bago “for his giant strides in agriculture and infrastructure development across the state.”
In his reaponse, Bago expressed appreciation to the wife of the president for coming to share in their pains and to commiserate with Nigerlites over the loses in recent times, like the tanker explosion in Diko, the dynamite explosion in Mashegu and the collapsed mines in Shiroro Local government amongst others.
Mrs Tinubu who came in the company of the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shetimma also paid a visit to the homes of Nigeria’s two former heads of state, retired Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdusalam Abubakar at their uphill mansions in Minna.
Although it was dubbed a private visit, Tinubu reassured the residents and Nigerians as a whole of her husband’s administration’s commitment to ensuring economic growth, development, and stability.
She explained that though the visit was private but there was the need to appreciate and applaud the efforts of the two heads of state for playing fatherly roles during the 2023 presidential election as well as their roles in ensuring Nigerians understood the need for the government to remove subsidy on petroleum products.
