The Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election was a historic moment for the nation and it owes much of its success in the North East to the unwavering efforts of Hon. Dahiru Hamman Dikko, a prominent politician from Adamawa State.
Sometimes in January 2022, I had the rear privileged of meeting this astute political player.
His belief for the candidature of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu moved me.
I listened as he explained the good things to expect from Tinubu-led administration, which I believe anyone who listened to that would have immediately made a choice for Tinubu.
Despite this remarkable feat, it is disheartening to learn that his name was surprisingly absent from the ministerial list.
Hon. Dikko’s remarkable political acumen and strategizing skills played a pivotal role in delivering substantial votes in the North East for the President Tinubu’s success.
His ability to connect with the masses and understand their concerns allowed him to devise effective campaigns that resonated with the people.
He connects naturally with people and having him as a minister would undoubtedly contribute to building stronger grassroots support and fostering cooperation among different political factions in Adamawa State and beyond.
At the time I met him, he was the North East Liaison for the Tinubu Support Group and later the coordinator of the group.
He also served as the National Coordinator of the Northern Region Support Tinubu/Kashim 2023 Agenda and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), serving as coordinator, contact and mobilization of the North East Zone.
With these, he will brings a valuable regional perspective to the table.
The region has faced its fair share of challenges, including security issues and economic disparities.
As a minister, Dikko can advocate for region-specific policies and initiatives, ensuring equitable development and addressing the unique concerns of the people in the North East.
One other defining characteristics of Dahiru’s leadership I so much admire is his unwavering commitment to national unity.
Throughout his campaign efforts, he emphasized the need to bridge the divide between various ethnic and religious groups.
As a minister, he could actively work towards fostering national integration and promoting a sense of belonging among all Nigerians, thereby promoting harmony and social cohesion.
With his track record in the public and private sector alongside his political prowess, I believe asking President Tinubu to look the side of Hon. Dikko is speaking the minds of the majority in Adamawa State.
