Natasha reveals date she will return to Senate

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has announced that she will return to the Senate on Tuesday.

This comes days after a court nullified her six-month suspension and ordered her immediate reinstatement.

The Federal High Court in Abuja declared the suspension unconstitutional and excessive, ruling that it denied her constituents the right to proper representation.

The court also instructed the Senate to allow her resume duties in the Red Chamber.

The lawmaker from Kogi Central shared the news in a video, thanking her supporters and confirming her return date.

Senator Natasha’s suspension, which was issued in March following a chaotic Senate session over seating arrangements, became a national topic after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment on live television.

Soon after the suspension, she filed a legal case against the Senate, claiming the action was meant to silence her.

In the course of the legal battle, she made a Facebook post described as a satirical apology to Akpabio, which the court viewed as contempt.

The court found her guilty of violating an earlier order that barred public commentary on the case.

Justice Binta Nyako ruled that the Facebook post was connected to the suspension case and ordered Senator Natasha to pay ₦5 million as a fine.

The court also directed her to issue a public apology, to be published in two national newspapers and shared on her Facebook page within seven days.

Despite the contempt ruling, the court’s decision restored her position and gave her the legal right to return to her seat in the Senate.
