Moses Orimolade founded C&S alone – Family
The Tunolase family of Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State has declared that the Cherubim and Seraphim Church worldwide was solely founded by the late St. Moses Orimolade-Tunolase in 1925.Family games
The family also stated that the revered founder hailed from a royal lineage, being a descendant of the Owa-Ale royal family of Ikare-Akoko through his father, who was a prince.
Addressing journalists in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday, the head of the Tunolase family, Elder George Tunolase, debunked recent media reports (not by The PUNCH) claiming that the C&S founder co-established the church with another person.Family games
He also dismissed suggestions that Orimolade’s mother was from the Owa-Ale royal family.
The 94-year-old family head said, “It was written in some newspapers that the mother of St. Moses (Orimolade-Tunolase) was from the Owa-Ale royal family of Ikare. That story is not correct. His father was a prince of Owa-Ale of Ikare, which means the Tunolase family is part of the Owa-Ale royal lineage.Family games
“The mother of St. Moses was not from the Owa-Ale palace but from the Eleho family in Shakume Quarters, Ikare-Akoko.”
Elder Tunolase further stressed that claims suggesting that the C&S Church was jointly founded by Orimolade and another person were false, insisting that Orimolade alone established and registered the church in 1945.
He added, “There is also misinformation that the Cherubim and Seraphim organisation worldwide was jointly founded by St. Moses Orimolade-Tunolase and one other person. That information is incorrect. The founder and sole founder remains St. Moses Orimolade-Tunolase.”Family games
The nonagenarian recalled that the ownership dispute over the church was once subjected to legal proceedings, which were resolved in favour of Orimolade.
“There is a Supreme Court judgment on the matter of who owns the church. The apex court held that the founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim organisation worldwide is St. Moses Orimolade-Tunolase. We still have a copy of the judgment with us,” he stated.
Elder Tunolase also said that the unity of the church remained unshaken, noting that members and branches across the world had recently celebrated its centenary with one accord.
