Mohbad’s widow takes legal steps to protect late singer’s estate
The widow of late music star Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has moved to prevent any unauthorized attempts to take control of his estate by filing a legal notice at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.
In a letter dated November 19, 2025, submitted by the law firm Salawu, Akingbolu & Co. and signed by I. P. Awo (Esq.), Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba informed the Probate Registrar that she had submitted Form 5 and Form 6, ensuring that Letters of Administration cannot be issued to anyone other than the recognized beneficiaries of the deceased.
The filing also identified Mrs. Aloba as Mohbad’s legal wife and the mother of his only surviving child, Master Liam Aloba
According to her, “Public notices supporting the move were published in two national newspapers in November 2025 to prevent any “surreptitious or fraudulent attempts” to claim the estate without proper legal process.
Her legal team emphasized that the notice remains valid in court records and must be respected until the estate is lawfully administered. They expressed confidence that no irregular attempts would be allowed, particularly given that the deceased’s lawful wife and son are still alive.
