Mass defection hits Jigawa PDP as 66,400 members join APC
A total of 66,400 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) weekend defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa state.
The defection ceremony was attended by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The president urged the new members to support the party, assuring them of equal treatment and opportunities.
The APC national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, welcomed the new members and described the defection as a testament to the party’s purposeful leadership.
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state expressed gratitude to the federal government for its support, which has led to numerous developmental projects in the state.
The defection was seen as a boost to the APC’s strength in Jigawa State, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
President Tinubu, represented by Governor Buni, assured the new members that the federal government would continue to support Jigawa State’s development.
