The Sweden’s minister for international development cooperation and trade, Johan Forssell, said on Wednesday that the government had decided to phase out aid to Mali.
The Swedish foreign ministry had no immediate comment, according to Reuters.
Mali and its neighbours Niger and Burkina Faso have formed closer ties with Russia after military leaders took over in these countries.
They have also been at loggerheads with their former colony France, regional heavyweight and bloc Nigeria and ECOWAS, and the United States.
Mail in 2022 gave France ambassador 72 hours to leave the country over what it termed as outrageous comments made by French foreign minister about the transitional government.
