LET’S CONTINUE TO BE PATIENT WITH THE NEW ADMINISTRATION – SENATOR UMAR TANKO AL-MAKURA:

Senator Umar Tanko Almakura, felicitates with the His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all Nigerians in the Spirit of Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration.

The Former Governor of Nasarawa State, stated that this year’s democracy day celebration was an event worthy of praise as it marked 25 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.

The APC Chieftain further encouraged the good people of Nigeria to be patient with this new administration. According to him, ‘the darkest night is just before dawn and as a woman travails greatly before the birth but rejoices at the sight of her new born baby, so will we all rejoice in the near future.’

He stated that democracy day is a time to make introspective appraisal of our system of government and what could be done better. We are not there yet, but we are gradually getting there.
He stated that, ‘Rome was not built in a day, many of the countries who we look towards in the practice of democracy have had hundreds of years of experience. Nigeria’s democracy is but an infant and it need time to grow.’

The nay sayers and detractors cannot stop our democracy, we will make Nigeria great.
Nigerians mystified by economic crisis.

“If you inherit a bad structure, it will take a while for you to repair it and make it stand solid. So, I want to beg all of us and the press people to also be patient with the government in power. Give us a little time.

“I promise that the government will do the needful. We all know that. And as we get the youth that are protesting, I will visit them and advise. And also I beg them to please dialogue. Because if you could see that the crisis in Iran, if you look at the crisis in Russia and Ukraine for the past almost two years. They have be fighting and no solution in place.

“But if they come to table, I think that crisis will be resolved. So I want our youth to also consider that olive branch that the president has offered them. That they should come to table for dialogue.

So whatever demand they have, they can table it before the government. The one the government can do immediately, they will offer it. The one they can do in a long time process, they will also let them know.

“So dialogue is better than protest. So we advise our youth and our compatriots to please be patient with the government. The government will do the needful at the right time,” he said.

The Senator assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration is doing everything possible to ensure that it cushions the effects of the fuel subsidy removal until the gains of the policy begins to materialise.

He said, “We will need your various Associations from time to time, at least to be able to reach out women in your various points, to reassure them that we mean well for this country, and that they should be patient and that whatever we can do to ameliorate what the subsidy has meted to us, we believe there is always light at the end of the tunnel.”

“It is a greater Nigeria we are looking out for and it is a legacy that our children and generations yet unborn, we would leave a Nigeria we can relate better as Nigerians and also look for the good of this nation and the wealth of this country can be greater enhanced.”
