Just In : Protest In Ondo As Akoko Indigenes Demand 16 LCDAs

BY KAYODE ANIMASAUN

Some Natives of Akoko areas of Ondo state have protested what they described as injustice and marginalisation against the areas by the state government following the creation of 33 local council development areas (LCDAs).

The Akoko people under the auspices of Akoko Consultative Forum who were armed with various placards on condemned the lopsidedness in the creation of the local council development areas in all the Akoko areas considering their large population.

Addressing newsmen in Akure, the President of Akoko Consultative Forum (ACF), Pa Lawrence Ibukun Rogbitan described as unacceptable a situation whereby the four local government areas in Akoko were allocated Nine LCDAs while Owo and Ose with only two local government areas were allocated Eight LCDAs.

Pa Rogbitan also alleged that the development was an attempt from some individuals within the government to kill Akoko politically and put the people in perpetual bondage in the scheme of things.

He however demanded the review of the new LCDAs with the aim of creating sixteen LCDAs for Akoko areas of Ondo state, adding that the people would not relent in fighting for their rights until the injustice against them was addressed.
