JUST IN; Govt declares Friday public holiday
Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has declared Friday a public holiday in honour of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari.
In his message to mark the occasion, Governor Radda extended warm greetings to the Muslim community and urged residents to embrace peace, unity, and mutual respect as they enter the new Islamic year.
“Governor Radda called on the good people of Katsina State to continue to live in peace and harmony with one another, emphasising that no meaningful development could take place without peace and stability.
“The Governor reassured the administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects that would improve the lives of the people,” the statement reads.
“The governor further encouraged farmers to take advantage of the agricultural assistance made available by the government.
“Furthermore, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda reiterated his call on farmers and beneficiaries of government agricultural support to make judicious use of the fertilizers, tractors, and other farming implements distributed to enhance food security during the ongoing rainy season.
“He also advised farmers to refrain from the illegal encroachment of cattle routes, forests, and grazing reserves.
“The governor also prayed for continued peace, unity, and prosperity in Katsina State and Nigeria at large,” the statement read.
