JUST IN : Adenugba Commends Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa for Strengthening Ondo Healthcare through FUTA Takeover
Chief Lawrence Adenugba has expressed his delight over the transfer of UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Akure, to the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), describing the development as a major step toward enhancing healthcare delivery and medical education in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
In his statement released to the press through his media office, Chief Adenugba said, “I am highly impressed with this new ownership structure that will undoubtedly strengthen medical training, research, and healthcare services with better outcomes for our people.”
The memorandum of understanding for the transfer was signed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, and the Ondo State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Olayide Adelami, mni, on behalf of the state government on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, in Akure.
“It is expected that this takeover will attract more funding, modern facilities, and highly skilled medical personnel, leading to improved infrastructure and raising the global standing of the institution among other centers of excellence,” he further stated.
Chief Adenugba commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his prompt approval and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his collaborative leadership in working with all relevant stakeholders to make the development a reality.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the Deji of Akure Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Ogunlade Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, CFR, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Dr. Femi Oyinsan, Senator Alasoadura, Senator Niyi Adegbonmire, Hon. Derin Adesida, MHR, and several others whose collective efforts brought the project to fruition.
Chief Adenugba urged residents to support the ongoing developmental strides of both the state and federal governments aimed at improving the welfare and standard of living of the people.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continue contributing to meaningful developmental initiatives that would benefit Ondo State and its citizens.
