Jonathan Leads Push for Fubara’s Reinstatement as Tinubu Plans Democracy Day Address
Former President Goodluck Jonathan is reportedly leading efforts to push for the reinstatement of suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara before Nigeria’s Democracy Day on June 12, 2025
Jonathan, along with two other former presidents, has engaged President Bola Tinubu in discussions, including a lengthy telephone conversation, urging Fubara’s return in the spirit of national reconciliation and democratic principles.
Tinubu is expected to address Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast on June 12, 2025, amid speculation that he may announce Fubara’s reinstatement as a symbolic gesture for Democracy Day.
Signs of reconciliation have emerged, including Fubara’s meetings with Tinubu in London and Lagos earlier in 2025.
