In recent weeks, our beloved nation has witnessed a troubling escalation in insecurity, violent attacks, kidnappings, and needless loss of lives across some communities. These incidents are heartbreaking, unacceptable, and must not be allowed to continue. I join millions of Nigerians, to express my deepest displeasure with the suffering inflicted on innocent citizens.
Let me acknowledge and commend the courage and efforts of our military, intelligence agencies, and security operatives. Their tireless efforts, past gains, and ongoing operations deserve national recognition. However, the current situation requires renewed urgency, stronger coordination, and an even more decisive response to keep our people safe.
I also join other well meaning Nigerians to address the dangerous misinformation and external narratives that may be fueling tension. Specifically, the recent public suggestion by U.S. President Donald Trump alleging a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria has created unnecessary panic and may have emboldened harmful elements seeking to exploit religious divisions.
Nigeria must never be defined by false narratives or exaggerated portrayals that threaten our unity. We are a diverse people, and no community or religion should ever be used as a tool for political manipulation.
At this critical moment, I respectfully call on His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to consider declaring a *State of Emergency on National Security.* Such a step will enable faster deployment of resources, enhanced intelligence operations, sweeping reforms, and a unified national framework to confront these threats head-on.
But security is not the job of government alone. I strongly urge all Nigerians to remain vigilant, stay aware of their surroundings, and report suspicious movements or information to security agencies immediately. Timely intelligence from citizens has saved lives before, and we must strengthen that culture now more than ever.
Our nation cannot afford to normalize fear or violence. We must stand together, reject divisive rhetoric, support our security institutions, and demand urgent action at all levels of leadership.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to all families affected by recent attacks. May their pain strengthen our resolve to secure this nation and restore lasting peace.
Thank you.
