Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has said he did not sleep for seven consecutive days before the Supreme Court judgement which upheld his victory during the 2023 general elections.

He said some past leaders of the state had informed President Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima not to allow him to stay because he would give their administration more problems as a member of the opposition party.
Recall that the Supreme Court on Friday affirmed the election of Bala Mohammed as the Governor of Bauchi State.
Justice Ibrahim Saulawa who read the lead judgment dismissed the appeal filed by Sadique Abubakar, a former Chief of the Air Staff, for lacking merit.
“My sleepless night was caused by a clique of former leaders of the state who concocted different lies against my person at the Presidency in order to steal my mandate,” the governor was quoted by Leadership while giving his remarks on his victory at the Supreme Court.
He continued: “They did everything possible to bring me into a collision course with my friend, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, as well as Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“They told the Presidency that I am the problem and will give them more problems if I remain the governor.”
Mohammed stated that despite being a member of an opposition party, he was in President Tinubu’s good graces.
He expressed gratitude to the president for his administration’s efforts in Bauchi State.
Mohammed said his political opponents were jealous that he had achieved what they could not when they governed the state, “despite getting more money” than he was getting.
“In fact, we are just starting, the people will see more than what we did in our first term. My roots are in Bauchi State, my ancestors were traditional rulers, well known across the state.
“I cannot afford to taint the image built by my ancestors over the years. We will continue to give our best in service to humanity,” he added
