I can bet Tinubu will win in 2027” – Wike replies El-Rufai
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed full confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election decisively, dismissing predictions of a possible defeat as unrealistic.
Wike criticized forecasts suggesting that Tinubu would come third in the forthcoming general election, calling them misguided.
“My friend goofed. Since you know Tinubu will come third, he should have also said who will be first and second. Which run-off? Who to who? It’s not possible. I will put a bet that if Tinubu contests, he will win squarely,” he said.
The minister further urged opposition leaders to focus on building strategies rather than constantly disputing election outcomes.
“Tell me which election in this country people did not accuse the winner? Mention one. Apart from Jonathan, who conceded defeat, no one has. I don’t like excuses. What I cannot do, I will say it is not possible. But people must stop this complaint,” Wike added.
