House of Assembly Ex-Speaker Elected As President Of Nigerian Tennis Federation
Ochei who won in the election conducted at Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, garnered 11 out of the 12 votes in the poll to defeat his closet rival, Mrs. Okaru.
Aformer Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, on Saturday emerged president of Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) with a promise to drastically turnaround the tennis game in the country.
Ochei who won in the election conducted at Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, garnered 11 out of the 12 votes in the poll to defeat his closet rival, Mrs. Okaru
Speaking with SaharaReporters, after the election, Ochei said, “We intend to dismantle the existing structure, repackage it, and ensure seamless operation across every organ of the Federation. When we bring in the right influence, sponsorships, and funding, and create career paths for players and coaches, you’ll begin to see the difference. The changes will be visible in the short term that’s a promise.”
Ochei, 56 year old, a lawyer, engineer and politician, assured all and sundry, especially lovers and believers of tennis, that he shall bring his passion for the sport to bear on his new status as well as making tennis the darly of all.
The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, had in a letter dated October, 20, 2025, addressed to Victor Ochei and obtained by SaharaReporters, affirmed Ochei’s nomination to the sponsorship/ philanthropy seat, one of the fourteen (14) distinct constituencies that make up the National Sports Federation Elections.
Meanwhile, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, has congratulated the former speaker, Victor Ochei on his election as President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), describing Ochei’s victory as well-deserved and testament to his unwavering commitment to the growth of sports in Nigeria.
