HON. BARR. BANJI OKUNOMO COMMENDS PRESIDENT TINUBU AND GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF ONDO AXIS OF THE LAGOS–CALABAR COASTAL ROAD PROJECT
Hon. Barr. Banji Okunomo has lauded the commencement of work on the Ondo State axis of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, describing it as a landmark development that will redefine economic growth, connectivity, and infrastructure in the region.
According to Hon. Okunomo, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves immense commendation for demonstrating political will and visionary leadership in ensuring that this historic project takes firm root across Nigeria’s coastal states. He further applauded Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his unwavering commitment and collaborative approach, which have facilitated the smooth take-off of the project within the state.
Recounting his personal involvement, Hon. Okunomo noted:
> “I had the privilege of attending two strategic meetings convened by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa with the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, at the Ondo State Government House, where stakeholders from the coastal communities were present. At those meetings, we collectively assured both the Federal and State Governments of our cooperation and readiness to provide the enabling environment for the smooth take-off and successful execution of the project. Today, as we witness the commencement of the Ondo axis of this historic coastal road, I want to reaffirm that no element will be allowed to derail the project in whatever guise. I also commend the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for his result-oriented approach and commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure across the country.”
As a former Local Government Chairman of Ilaje, Hon. Okunomo further extended appreciation to President Tinubu on behalf of the Ilaje people, stressing that the project will bring unprecedented socio-economic transformation to the riverine communities of Ondo State.
Hon. Okunomo emphasized that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road will not only open up new corridors of trade and investment but also significantly ease the movement of goods, services, and people, thereby stimulating industrialization and creating employment opportunities for the people of Ondo State and beyond.
“This project is a testament to what is possible when federal and state governments work hand in hand in the collective interest of the people. I am confident that the Ondo axis of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road will usher in a new era of prosperity for our state,” Hon. Okunomo stated.
He called on the people of Ondo State to continue to support both the Federal and State Governments, stressing that infrastructural development on this scale requires unity, patience, and cooperation from all stakeholders.
