Gunmen ∆bduct Abuja Varsity Senior Lecturer
The abduction has sparked concerns among residents of the area and the academic community, as efforts are currently being made to secure his release.
Prof Musa Dankyau, a lecturer at the Bingham University, Abuja, has been abducted by gunmen from his residence in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident happened on Monday night around 9:30pm at SA Estate along Guratopp Road, where the armed men stormed the area and whisked the professor away to an unknown destination.

According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, “The incident occurred on Monday at about 9:30pm when armed assailants stormed SA Estate along Guratopp Road and whisked the professor away to an unknown destination.”
He added, “A coordinated effort is ongoing to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.”
SaharaReporters also reported on August 3 how troops of the Nigerian Army, 6 Brigade, Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), rescued Engineer Joshua Saleh, a lecturer at Taraba State University.
The lecturer had been kidnapped by suspected criminals on 31 July 2025, along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The military said in a statement on Sunday that “acting on credible and actionable intelligence, the troops, alongside DSS operatives, launched a targeted search and rescue operation across key locations, including Kente, Sondi 1 and 2, Yaku, and the Warawa general area.”
Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations,
6 Brigade, said, “During the operation, troops encountered the kidnappers and engaged them in a fierce gun battle. Overwhelmed by the superior firepower and pressure, the criminals fled the scene, abandoning the victim. Engineer Saleh was found unharmed and promptly rescued.”
