FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Green Clean Energy and Gas Practitioners Association Expresses Condolences and Urges Safety Standards Following Nipco Gas Cylinder Explosion in Benin.

The Green Clean Energy and Gas Practitioners Association in Nigeria (GCEGPAN) expresses deep sorrow over the recent gas cylinder explosion at Nipco in Benin, which has resulted in injuries and significant distress within the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as we hope for a swift and complete recovery for those affected.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of safety in the energy sector. The GCEGPAN was established out of a profound concern for safety and a commitment to uphold global standards in energy practices. We believe that as a nation, we must prioritize ethical practices and ensure that safety is never compromised for financial gain.

Call to Action for Enhanced Safety Measures

We urge all government agencies responsible for enforcing safety standards to intensify their efforts in monitoring and regulating the industry. It is imperative that we collectively stand up against unethical practices that jeopardize lives and property. To achieve a safer environment, we must:

1. Strengthen Regulatory Oversight: Government bodies must enhance their vigilance and enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Increased inspections and accountability measures are essential.

2. Promote Industry Best Practices: The GCEGPA advocates for the widespread adoption of best practices and safety protocols throughout the gas and energy sectors. Training and certification programs should be made available to industry workers to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge necessary to operate safely.

3. Foster Public Awareness: We call for awareness campaigns to educate the public about the safe handling and use of gas cylinders and other energy resources. An informed public can play a crucial role in preventing accidents.

4. Encourage Ethical Conduct: All stakeholders within the energy sector must commit to ethical practices that prioritize safety over profit. We cannot allow the pursuit of financial gain to overshadow our responsibility to protect lives and property.

Commitment to a Safer Future

The GCEGPAN is dedicated to fostering a culture of safety and accountability within Nigeria’s energy sector. We believe that by working together, we can create a safer environment for all citizens and contribute to the overall well-being of our communities.
