Governor donates 140 patrol vans to security agencies
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to tackling insecurity in the state.
At the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, the governor announced the distribution of 140 patrol vehicles to various security agencies and the establishment of Sokoto State Community Guard Corps.
Aliyu said the newly created corps had been equipped with 40 Hilux vans and 700 motorcycles to boost mobility and response time.
He said the administration had invested billions of naira to strengthen the capacity of security agencies operating in the state.
“We have provided significant support to security agencies and introduced new initiatives to curb the activities of bandits.
“Additional efforts include the upgrade of the Department of State Services tracker system to 5G technology, provision of motorcycles for DSS operatives, the establishment of Community Guard Corps headquarters at both local and state levels, and the ongoing construction of a military base in Illela Local Government Area,” he said.
The governor hinted at plans to ensure the operationalisation of an Air Force base in the state.
He urged members of the council to intensify efforts in supporting the administration’s mission to ensure a safer Sokoto.
“Our administration will continue to implement impactful projects that will drive development across the state. We urge all stakeholders to support us in this mission,” he added.
