GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA RALLIES APC CANDIDATES AHEAD OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS
In a strategic move to consolidate the All Progressives Congress (APC) stronghold in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Friday, January 10, 2025, convened a crucial meeting with the party’s chairmanship, vice chairmanship, and councilorship candidates from all 18 local government areas.
The meeting, which took place at the International Culture and Events Centre, Akure, was aimed at galvanizing the party’s candidates ahead of the January 18 local government elections. Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his address, emphasized the importance of building on the party’s previous successes, particularly in the last governorship election.
He admonished the candidates to demonstrate their unwavering commitment to the party and the people, reminding them that the electorates are watching and expecting leaders who will not only represent them well but also deliver on their promises. “Prove your capacity and capabilities to make a difference at the grassroots level,” he added.
The governor’s message was clear: the party must work tirelessly to ensure that its candidates emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections. He encouraged the candidates to intensify their campaigns, engage with the people, and promote the party’s agenda of good governance.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin, congratulated the candidates on their emergence and reminded them of the heavy responsibility ahead. He urged them to work together, mobilize party members, and ensure that the party’s victory in the governorship election is replicated at the local government level.
The meeting provided a platform for the candidates to interact with the governor, party leaders, and each other. It was an opportunity for them to share their experiences, discuss challenges, and strategize on how to overcome them.
As the January 18 local government elections draw near, the APC in Ondo State is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for victory. With Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and the party’s collective efforts, the APC is poised to consolidate its stronghold in the state and deliver on its promise of good governance to the people.
