Former LP governorship candidate defects to APC
Udengs Eradiri, the Labour Party’s former governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eradiri registered as an APC member in Ward 10, Constituency 2, Yenagoa. He explained that his decision was influenced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strong commitment to infrastructure development, especially in his Agudiama/Ekpetiama community in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
He pointed to several projects carried out by the Tinubu administration, which he said have significantly improved his community and the Niger Delta region. These include clean water supply, shore protection, solar streetlights, and the construction of a one-kilometre road, all implemented through the Samuel Ogbuku-led Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Eradiri, a former Bayelsa Commissioner for Youths and Environment, highlighted how these projects have not only improved infrastructure but also contributed to peace in the region.
He also praised the federal government for its ongoing plans, such as remodeling a local secondary school and building a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodge in the state.
Additionally, he commended President Tinubu for signing the Maritime University Bill into law and approving the University of Technology and Environment in Ogoni. He believes these initiatives will help stabilize the region and support long-term development.
Eradiri also appreciated Tinubu’s appointment of Bayelsa indigenes to important positions, including the Head of Service, the Minister of State for Petroleum, and the Managing Director of the NDDC.
He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s efforts to boost oil production and accelerate the completion of the East-West Road under the supervision of Minister of Works, Dr. Dave Umahi. He credited these projects for promoting peace and development in the Niger Delta.
Eradiri stated that Tinubu genuinely wants the best for the Niger Delta and the entire country. He urged people in the region to support the President’s vision for Nigeria.
He also thanked APC members in Bayelsa for warmly welcoming him into the party and promised to work with all stakeholders to strengthen the APC in the state.
“The best way to thank a government that is doing well is to join them,” Eradiri concluded.
