First lady Remi Tinubu gets new appointment

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has been elected as a member of the Steering Committee of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

The election took place during the 29th Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa, held alongside the 38th African Union Summit.

As part of the eight-member committee, she will represent West Africa along with another member.

Her tenure will last for two years, during which she will contribute to the organization’s projects and initiatives.

Before this appointment, Tinubu has been actively involved in OAFLAD’s programs.

With this new role, she is expected to further support the group’s efforts in addressing key social and health issues affecting women and children in Africa.

The organization is currently working towards implementing its 2025-2030 Strategic Framework, and she will play a role in advancing its objectives.

OAFLAD brings together First Ladies from across the continent to champion development programs, focusing on healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
