FG Designates Air Peace to Operate Direct Flights to Brazil
In a significant move aimed at deepening Nigeria’s global aviation footprint, the Federal Government has officially designated Nigeria’s flagship carrier, Air Peace, to operate direct flights to Brazil. This development marks a new milestone in the nation’s international air connectivity, particularly strengthening ties with South America.
The designation, announced by the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, reflects Nigeria’s strategic push to expand its aviation reach and enhance bilateral relations with key global partners. Air Peace will now operate scheduled direct flights from Lagos to São Paulo, Brazil’s economic hub.
This direct connection is expected to significantly reduce travel time, ease movement for business and tourism, and promote cultural and diplomatic exchange between Nigeria and Brazil. Previously, travelers between the two countries had to rely on indirect routes, often involving long layovers in Europe or the Middle East.
The designation aligns with the government’s broader agenda of positioning Nigeria as a central aviation hub in Africa, while supporting the growth of indigenous carriers.
