FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS EMPOWERMENT PROJECTS : BENUE BECOMES FIRST STATE TO START OPERATION

Pursuant to the renewed efforts of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to improve the welfare of Nigerian Women, Benue State Government has become the first state to install the Rice Milling machine and other items which the Ministry distributed to the state alongside other states in fulfillment of the E-Market initiative which was launched last month at the State House Banquet, Abuja

Speaking during the formal unveil and test running of the Rice Winnowing machines, the State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Anne Itodo commended the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Barr Uju Kennedy Ohanenye under whose watch, sustainable empowerment equipment are distributed among states as part of measures to enhance the welfare and socio-economic status of Nigerian Women. She pledged on behalf of women in Benue State to ensure judicious use of the equipment and active participation of the women in the various schemes initiated by the Honorable Minister to improve their wellbeing.

It will be recalled that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs distributed about 387 empowerment items among 15 states in the first phase of the distribution which according to the Minister, will be sustained till all states in the country benefit from the initiative which is designed to strengthen the socio-economic status of Nigerian Women and provide them opportunity to veer into business ventures and agricultural production.

Further to this, the E-market portal will provide a one-stop-shop for women to showcase and market their products and services and equally get paid online.

Part of the items distributed in the first phase include Rice Milling and Winnowing machines, Garri processing machines, industrial sewing machines, Fish Grilling machines and other items
