Federal Govt to shutdown Eko bridge for two months

The Federal Government has initiated an eight-week closure of the Eko Bridge and its ramps to carry out necessary repairs.

This project, which commenced on Friday, September 20, 2024, involves resurfacing the asphalt on the bridge to improve road safety and ease travel for motorists.

According to the Lagos Federal Controller of Works, Olukorede Kesha, certain sections of the bridge will experience complete closures, while others will remain partially accessible.

The Ministry of Works aims to fix the wear and tear on the bridge by removing the old asphalt and laying down new material.

Drivers are advised to follow alternative routes and detours to reach their destinations.

Some of the suggested routes include using the service lane at Alaka to reach Costain and access the bridge.

Motorists traveling from Apongbon or Surulere should also follow specific detours.

Traffic signage and control measures will be set up to assist drivers and pedestrians during this period.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to plan their movements accordingly.

The ministry has apologized for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s patience as these essential repairs take place.
