Empowering the “Youth Tribe”: A Call for Unity and Accountability in Southern Nigeria
The Southern Nigerian Youth Convergence was both timely and purposeful.
I urged the leadership to focus on advocating for the most important “tribe” in Nigeria — the Youth tribe — because it is the only group capable of standing united against religious, cultural, ethnic, and political divides for the sake of the socioeconomic development of society.
I also informed Southern youths that they are the only ones who can hold Southern leaders accountable for the utilization of public funds and the provision of the dividends of democracy.
Using this platform, I also challenged them to demand youthful representation in state executive councils, citing Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Pan-Nigerian Youth Governor of Imo State, as a role model they could look up to.
Hon. Dr. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu.
Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt Imo State.
