As Muslims around the world celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has urged them to use the period of Eid El Maulud to pray for leaders at all levels, considering the economic and security challenges facing Nigeria.

In his Eid El Maulud message signed by his media Aid, Salihu Abdullahi Osuko and sent to reporters on Sunday, Senator Al-Makura, who holds the traditional title of Sardaunan Gwandara, emphasized the importance of the commemoration of the Prophet’s birth, describing it as a time for Muslims to offer prayers for the country’s healing.

He acknowledged the economic hardships being experienced due to the federal government’s reform policies but encouraged Nigerians to view them as necessary steps toward a brighter future. According to Al-Makura, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is laying the foundation for a more prosperous Nigeria.

“While the challenges are undeniable, these reforms are geared towards building a better Nigeria for the good of all,” he said.

Senator Al-Makura further appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and understanding as the administration works through these economic reforms. He urged leaders to rule with the fear of God, emphasizing the need for compassion and support for the less fortunate.

The former governor also called on well-off individuals to assist the needy, including those living with disabilities, as a reflection of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In addition, Senator Al-Makura expressed sympathy to the government and people of Borno State following the recent flood disaster, which caused significant loss of lives and property in Maiduguri. He urged authorities to ensure swift responses to such disasters in the future.
