Edo Gov makes new appointment,weeks after suspending top Aide

appoints Kasimu Otono as Special Adviser on Oil, Gas

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has named Kasimu Otono as the new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, following the suspension of his predecessor, Felix Isere.

The appointment was officially announced on Friday through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.

According to the announcement, Otono’s appointment takes immediate effect and follows the removal of Felix Isere, who was suspended earlier in the week over allegations of unauthorised fundraising in the name of the state government. The incident reportedly involved the proposed Oil and Gas Summit, which is scheduled to hold on August 7 in Benin City.

The statement read in part: “It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Barrister Kasimu Otono as Special Adviser (Oil and Gas) to the Governor.”

Otono, a lawyer by training and an accomplished entrepreneur, is recognised for his contributions to legal practice, real estate, philanthropy, and grassroots mobilisation. He is also a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association. He currently serves as a Senior Partner at Kay and Kay Legal, a firm reputed for its expertise in commercial, real estate, and oil and gas law.
