EASTER & GOOD FRIDAY MESSAGE FROM HON. SHOLA OLOFIN, CHAIRMAN, NIGERIA SOCIAL INSURANCE TRUST FUND (NSITF)
On behalf of the Board, Management, and entire staff of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), I extend my warmest Easter greetings and heartfelt felicitations to Christians across Nigeria and around the world as we commemorate the solemn observance of Good Friday and celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, this Easter season. This period holds profound spiritual importance to the Christian faithful, as it represents the very heart of their faith — a time of deep reflection, immense sacrifice, and ultimately, triumphant hope. Good Friday reminds us of the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary, an act that demonstrates the highest form of love ever known to mankind. It was on this day that Jesus bore the weight of the world’s sins, enduring suffering and humiliation to secure the salvation of all who believe. His selfless act was not merely a historical moment, but a divine mission — the redemption of humanity through grace, mercy, and unshakable love. Christians across the globe mark this day with reverence, remembering the price paid for their freedom from sin, and the lessons of humility, obedience, and service it teaches us all.
Easter Sunday, which follows shortly after Good Friday, brings with it a message of victory — the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, signifying the ultimate defeat of death, sin, and despair. The resurrection is the foundation of Christian hope, and it affirms the promise of eternal life for all believers. It is a call to renewal — of faith, of purpose, and of spirit. Easter teaches that even in the darkest hour, there is always light ahead; that no matter how heavy the burden or how deep the sorrow, God’s power to restore and renew is infinite. For Christians, this season is more than a celebration; it is a reminder of a living Christ whose love transcends borders, whose grace includes all of humanity, and whose mission was to reconcile the world to God. Jesus lived a life of service, compassion, and sacrifice. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, uplifted the oppressed, and showed mercy to the brokenhearted. His teachings challenged injustice, encouraged peace, and called all to love one another. This mission did not end at the cross, and it did not remain in the grave. Through His resurrection, Christ continues to inspire hope, faith, and resilience in the face of adversity. His mission was and still is universal — calling all nations, races, and peoples to unity, righteousness, and divine purpose.
As a nation, and indeed as a people who have experienced various challenges, Easter offers a sacred opportunity to reflect on our collective journey and to draw strength from the enduring message of Christ. We are reminded that out of pain can come power, out of trials can come triumph, and through unity and compassion, we can overcome the obstacles that stand before us. In our homes, in our communities, and in our workplaces, the spirit of Easter should guide our interactions, calling us to be more understanding, more generous, and more devoted to the welfare of one another. At the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, we draw inspiration from the spirit of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection in our daily mission to serve the Nigerian workforce and protect the vulnerable. The principles of love, care, and social justice are at the heart of what we do. We remain committed to supporting workers, securing their future, and promoting a system where every Nigerian is valued, protected, and empowered — regardless of their social or economic status. As we celebrate this holy season, we must also commit ourselves anew to building a better Nigeria — one founded on values of equity, integrity, compassion, and shared responsibility.
Let this Easter not just be a time of celebration but a season of recommitment — to our faith, to our families, to our nation, and to the universal values that unite us all. May the sacrifice of Good Friday remind us of the cost of our redemption, and may the joy of Easter Sunday fill our hearts with unshakable hope.
