Strategic Contributions to Development
1. Economic Planning and Revenue Enhancement:
Dr. Akabe has championed inclusive and collaborative development planning. At the 23rd Joint Planning Board meeting in October 2024, he emphasized the importance of holistic planning and effective state-federal collaboration to address economic challenges and improve citizens’ welfare.
Under his leadership, Nasarawa State has significantly improved its internally generated revenue (IGR), achieving over a 300% increase since implementing the Harmonization and Administration of Revenue Law in 2020. He advocates for modern tax administration practices to reduce dependency on federal allocations.
2. Infrastructure and Social Development:
Dr. Akabe has overseen critical infrastructure projects, including the commissioning of the ₦3 billion Mararaba Udege–Udege Mbeki road, enhancing connectivity in agricultural and mining regions.
In response to a windstorm that damaged the Lafia Special School, he directed a comprehensive assessment to facilitate necessary renovations, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusive education.
3. Youth Empowerment and Human Capital Development:
Recognizing the importance of youth empowerment, Dr. Akabe supported an employability and entrepreneurship training program for 100 youths across Nasarawa’s 13 local government areas. The initiative aimed to equip participants with skills for self-reliance and job creation.

In February 2024, Dr. Akabe initiated the development of an Off-Grid Electricity Policy and Action Plan to promote cleaner energy sources and support the state’s industrialization agenda.
