Celebrating Our Democratic Journey
On this auspicious occasion of Nigeria’s Democracy Day, I, Hon. Dahiru Hammandikko, Executive Director of Agricultural Services at the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, join all patriotic Nigerians in celebrating our hard-earned democracy and the remarkable progress we have made as a nation. This day reminds us of the sacrifices of our heroes past who fought tirelessly to entrench democratic governance in our beloved country.
I specially congratulate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on his two years of visionary leadership at the helm of our nation’s affairs. Your administration has demonstrated uncommon courage in tackling longstanding national challenges. As we mark this Democracy Day, we reflect on how far weu have come in our democratic journey since 1999 and reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of unity, progress, and shared prosperity.
Appreciating Nigerians’ Resilience and the President’s Bold Leadership
Let me specially commend the good people of Nigeria for their remarkable patience, understanding, and resilience in the face of necessary but difficult economic reforms. Your steadfastness during these challenging times demonstrates the true Nigerian spirit of endurance and hope for a better tomorrow.
I must particularly appreciate President Tinubu for his bold decision-making and unwavering commitment to transforming our nation. From the courageous removal of fuel subsidy to various economic interventions and agricultural revitalization programs, your administration has taken tough but necessary steps to reposition our economy for sustainable growth. These decisions, though painful in the short term, are already laying the foundation for the prosperous Nigeria we all desire.
Looking Forward to a Brighter Future
As we celebrate this Democracy Day, I urge all Nigerians to keep faith with our nation and its leadership. The sacrifices we are making today are investments in the future of our children and generations yet unborn. The reforms being implemented will soon yield fruits that will benefit every Nigerian.
