CVR: Borno overtakes Osun, Lagos with 745,160 online pre-registrations – INEC
More than 6.8 million Nigerians have pre-registered online for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, according to new data released by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday.
INEC reported that a total of 6,856,979 people completed the online pre-registration process between September 29 and October 5, 2025 (Week seven of the exercise).
Women made up the majority of online pre-registrants, accounting for 3,581,562 or 52.23 per cent, while men totalled 3,275,417 or 47.77 per cent.
Youth participation remained strong, with 4,689,637 of the registrants aged between 18 and 34. Students also formed a significant portion, numbering 1,728,384, and 154,479 persons with disabilities were recorded.
The state with the highest number of pre-registrations was Borno, which recorded 745,160. This was followed by Osun with 615,639 pre-registrations, and Lagos with 574,325.
Kebbi recorded 525,108 pre-registrations, while Ogun followed with 468,931. Kaduna had 429,886, and Kano registered 348,181. Kogi also featured prominently with 322,495 pre-registrations.
Yobe recorded 266,356, while Jigawa registered 228,783. The Federal Capital Territory had 227,405 pre-registrations. Oyo followed with 212,290, and Zamfara had 203,236.
Other notable figures include Katsina with 148,906, Nasarawa with 142,438, Sokoto with 140,961, and Bauchi, which recorded 138,802. Delta also contributed significantly with 131,021 pre-registrations, while Kwara had 124,800.
In the South-South region, Cross River posted 105,136, while Ekiti in the South-West had 102,709. Niger State recorded 96,641, followed by Gombe with 86,696 and Plateau with 76,978.

Imo recorded 65,272, while Akwa Ibom registered 54,621. Taraba had 47,782. Benue recorded 45,827, and Rivers had 44,628.
In the North-East, Adamawa recorded 42,373, while Bayelsa had 41,026. Enugu registered 11,052, Edo recorded 10,810, and Ebonyi followed with 9,269. Ondo reported 15,841, while Abia had the lowest pre-registration figure with just 5,595.
INEC also provided an update on the number of people who completed both online and physical registration processes during the previous week, from September 29 to October 3, 2025 (Week six). A total of 1,216,048 voters completed their registration in that period.
Of the completed registrations, 658,766 were finalised online, while 557,282 were done through physical registration at INEC centres. Again, women led with 675,222 completed registrations (55.53 per cent), compared to 540,826 men (44.47 per cent).
The majority of fully registered voters were young people aged 18 to 34, who made up 897,676 of the total. Students accounted for 424,126 registrations, and 17,450 were PWDs.
Until recently, states in the South-West, particularly Osun, Lagos, and Ogun, had consistently led the CVR process since the exercise commenced on August 18, 2025.
However, recent data indicate a significant uptick in participation from northern states, especially Borno and Kebbi, amid renewed mobilisation campaigns.
It was reported that community-based organisations, religious leaders, and local officials in several northern states intensified sensitisation efforts to boost awareness and encourage eligible residents to register.
