AOPSHON Akoko North West Chapter Pays Familiarization Visit to LG Chairman
The Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Akoko North West Chapter, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Hon. Owolabi Esan John Abiodun. Led by Mrs. Adeoye, the chairperson of AOPSHON, the delegation congratulated the Chairman on his assumption of office and expressed their appreciation for the Governor’s efforts in employing 1,100 teachers through the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).
During the visit, the AOPSHON representatives highlighted several challenges faced by primary schools in the local government area. These challenges include:
– *Provision of Essential Supplies*: The need for registers, diaries, writing materials, and the inclusion of the Governor’s and Local Government Chairman’s photographs in these items.
– *Timely Payment of Salaries*: Ensuring that teachers’ salaries are paid promptly.
– *Celebration of National Days*: Organizing and supporting the celebration of events such as Children’s Day.
– *Teacher Welfare*: Enhancing the welfare of teachers, especially at the end of the year.
– *Soft Loans*: Providing soft loan facilities to support teachers’ personal and professional needs.
– *School Infrastructure*: Renovating and upgrading school buildings, as well as providing adequate furniture and other necessary infrastructure.
Hon. Owolabi Esan expressed his appreciation for the valuable contributions of teachers and assured the AOPSHON representatives that their requests were achievable. He emphasized the importance of teachers’ well-being and national day celebrations, which serve as a means of exposure and encouragement for the children.
