ANWSUG PAYS PRODUCTIVE COLLABORATION VISIT TO HON. ESAN OWOLABI
The Executive Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government, Hon. Esan Abiodun Owolabi JP, warmly received the leadership of the Akoko Northwest Students Union Government (ANWSUG) in his office on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Leading the delegation, Comrade Oluseyi Olanrewaju congratulated Hon. Owolabi on his election victory and assured him of the union’s support and collaboration throughout his tenure.
“We are here to congratulate you on your victory and to assure you of our commitment to working together in support of your administration,” Comrade Oluseyi stated.
The union leaders further highlighted several challenges facing ANWSUG, including the need for a union secretariat, bursary support, and financial assistance. They expressed their appreciation to Hon. Owolabi for granting them an audience, describing him as a grassroots leader committed to the progress of the local government.
Comrade Oluseyi also requested support for student bursaries, noting that similar promises made by past chairmen had yet to be fulfilled. He further sought financial assistance for the union and requested that one of their members be appointed as a personal assistant to the chairman.
Additionally, the union leaders raised concerns about the shortage of teachers and the deteriorating state of school buildings in the local government. In response, Hon. Owolabi assured them that the government had recently recruited new teachers and that more would be deployed to local government schools soon.
The chairman accepted the union’s request to make him their life patron and promised to work closely with ANWSUG, ensuring that the local government benefits positively from state government initiatives.
Hon. Musa Olasehinde, Secretary to the Local Government, welcomed the union leaders and assured them that their requests would receive prompt attention from the chairman.
With this visit, ANWSUG and Hon. Owolabi’s administration have laid the foundation for a productive collaboration, paving the way for a brighter future for students and communities in Akoko Northwest Local Government.
